A couple of days ago I visited Rampone & Cazzani saxophone factory in Quarna Sotto, a lovely mountain village not far from Lago Maggiore.

I needed a small setup on my R&C R1 Jazz baritone, and  this brought the whole factory working on the instrument, brainstorming about tweaks and improvements in the design, that eventually will set the new standard on the next models. For instance, I got an extra arm soldered to the low C key to get rid of some annoying vibrations. This made my bari feel and look sturdier than ever, and now it plays like a dream!

I’m really proud to support and be supported by this company. They make GREAT saxophones, the old way, handmade one by one, and they are NOT your average Selmer copy. If you play saxophone and you like to surprise yourself, seriously consider a trip to Quarna! Claudio Zolla and the whole R&C team will surely know how to make you feel at home.
